Two weeks delay because of the electrical inspections and finally Cabaret Voltaire was ready for its grand opening. It had been three weeks since returning from Japan and with the rehearsals, settling into the Tiphareth’s place with Nathan and beginning her private tutoring she should have felt beat. But tonight, tonight was the night they were headlining and the band was ready. More than ready actually, as they were all anxious for this night that seemed to get put off over and over again.

Brian had been a rock the whole time, even with Trin hanging all over him constantly. Gale also had to admit that Jewel was also contributing a lot to the band and the others had really learned from her experience at Julian. A fact Gale was not real sure how she felt about, in all honesty considering that Jewel had the hots for Nix. Tonight, though, it was all about the band. They all earned this night. Sure, it was because of the newscast that featured Gale bringing in Dantaro as Nightingale but tonight they would show them all; the band deserved to be on the stage.

The Flesh Tarts were still playing strong as Gale peeked through the curtain at the crowd. ‘Damn… so many people.’ and she swallowed hard. ’Ok… nervous here and where the hell is Nix? Come on baby I could really use you tonight.’ She closed the curtain and hoped the others would show up as well. This night could make or break them and she looked back at the others as they joked and horse-played through their own nervous thoughts; except for Brian, he was leaned up against the wall reading his damn newspaper as Trin tried to engage him in suggestive small talk.

The last chord rang out and the crowd applauded as Zidler tapped her on the shoulder. “All ready here?” and he beamed a smile. Zidler always smiled big when it was a good take at the door and tonight she thought the top of his head would fall back from the size of the smile he was now sporting.

“Yeppers… but hey none of that ‘Here’s your superhero darling crap ok? That shit is embarrassing.” Seeing his grin, she slumped her shoulders and sighed knowing he was going to do it anyway.

“My dear its show business!” he said as Flesh Tarts came off stage and the others started to set up hurriedly. “And tonight business is wonderful!”

“Great! Then we can talk about our percent of the door then.” Gale shot back. Zidler hemmed and hawed a moment, “Oh I have to announce you, excuse me dear.”

“You’re not getting off that easy Zidler!” Gale shouted after him as he took the stage and started going on about how the ‘next’ band needed no introduction and was discovered in his club… by him, blah, blah, blah. Then came the dreaded introduction as the band finished up on stage, “And now for the most rocking superhero in MC… nay the world, Nightingale!” and he winked at her as she came out on stage. They whispered as they passed each other, “You ass.” she hissed at him as he laughed, “Hey, I didn’t call you the ‘superhero darling!’”
